This box is coil built from an iron rich clay, the surface is scraped to reveal the rough texture of the clay. The resulting finish comes from the action of wood firing. It has a wood ash glaze to the inside with a floral motif impressed in the base.

The lid is made from Spalted Beech, it is carved to fit with an Oak locating peg and finished with Danish oil.
